What a tag is

A tag is a free-form label you stick on a contact. One contact can carry many tags at once, and the same tag is shared across many contacts. Each tag has a name and an optional color so it stands out in the list.

Where tags help

Create & attach a tag

  1. Create a tag with a name (and an optional color). Once made, it is shared across all contacts.
  2. Pick and attach tags when you create or edit a contact card.
  3. When you import contacts, you can stamp the whole batch with one tag at once.

Tag contacts automatically

With the ‘Add tag’ action in an automation, the chosen tag is attached to contacts that meet a condition such as a form submission. If the tag is already there, it is not added twice. See automations

Narrow a campaign by tag

When sending a campaign or email, the audience picker lets you narrow recipients by tag. Contacts who opted out are automatically excluded from outreach. Campaigns · Sequences

Design tips

Keep colors consistent by meaning. For example, red for urgent and green for closed — if the whole team uses the same rule, the list reads at a glance.

Too many fine-grained tags get hard to manage. Make only the labels you will actually use to select an audience, and merge near-duplicates.
When stages, amounts and probabilities matter, use pipeline & deals instead. Tags are for light grouping; the pipeline tracks progress.
